“Mindseye” by Lauren Ruth Ward

“Mindseye” by the uber-talented Lauren Ruth Ward is in my opinion, a sonic masterpiece, but with the addition of the visuals, the experience goes up another level. The approach taken gives the story an eerie feel that just knows how to get you hooked from the moment the music video starts. The melodies and vocals flow along so nicely, guiding us through this mesmerizing tale, making it all feel so surreal and memorable.

There’s something about this track that just hits the mark so right and I have to give massive kudos to the directors and everyone involved because they understood the task and gave it their all. The music video is so amazing that quite frankly, if they decided to expand on it and do a series or movie, I would watch it. “Mindseye” is another intoxicating soundscape crafted by the one-and-only Lauren Ruth Ward and if you are not a fan already, you will after exploring this reality.

So listen closely, open your eyes and fall prey to the bittersweet yet hypnotizing magic that resides within this must-listen/must-see gem. Enjoy the adventure that is offered by this experience.

“When we originally heard ‘Mindseye,’ we immediately felt that the song called for a visual narrative journey  — we knew that the lyrics as well as the tempo changes would be so fun to create a story around. What we didn’t know is that Lauren had just worked on a short film with an incredible makeup artist that had inspired her to want to play a corpse character that looked…sexy. That’s how the Hot Corpse  was born. We began brainstorming as a team and decided the corpse would be stuck in her ex-girlfriend’s  house watching her move on to a new partner.”

Dri Sommer – Co-Director of the “Mindseye” music video

“Because the song is about the loss of relationship, we wanted to show a wide range of emotions: from longing to jealousy and grief as somebody moves on. We wanted the audience to sit with the  corpse’s loss and nostalgia without it feeling morbid.”

Nicol Biesek – Co-Director of the “Mindseye” music video
