‘High Club’ by Alex Kate

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

From the UK comes an amazing singer/songwriter, say hello to the talented Alex Kate, who graces our lands with her latest EP, ‘High Club’. With this body of work, she gives music lovers 5 songs, 5 moments, 5 stories, 5 chances to fall prey to the sweet magic that comes so naturally from her voice. It’s an EP that understands the beauty of the pop genre and knows the ways in which to not only get our imagination hooked, but our senses invested in the entirety of each experience.

Each track manages to give us a chance to explore cinematic realities that speak to our hearts and souls in such natural fashion. Plus, there’s something about each song that just speaks to us, pulling us in as it allows us to see bits and pieces of ourselves in each of them. They don’t hide the fact that they are inspired by life, love and the ups and downs that come with them, and this makes the EP more special.

As mentioned before, there are 5 songs in the ‘High Club’ EP, but 2 just got me hooked a bit faster than the rest. Strangely it was the first and the last song, “Not a Clue” and “High Club”.

The first explores the reality of not realizing how deep the feelings you hold for someone go, but it does not see this as something negative. It just continues on, hoping to see things clearly as the relationship unfolds and accepting that sometimes there are other things that can get in the way. Yet still she is brave and tries to discover what is it that’s coming out of this.

On the other hand, ‘High Club’ has a bit more of an edge in my opinion, as it goes a bit harder and has a nice dose of rock thrown in the mix. Plus, it allows us to see why the EP owes this track it’s name. It’s a hit in my book, and like the rest of song, a great way to fall prey to the voice of Alex Kate.

So listen closely and fall prey to the sweet and honest showcase of feelings and emotions that calls this EP home. Enjoy the magic of each soundscape, because they all have something special to share!
