yakitori

From Australia comes the uber-talented indie singer/songwriter Miya Zawa and she does so with the intoxicating world of "yakitori". With this refreshingly inviting and honest blend of melodies and lyrics she does not come to ask for forgiveness or understanding, she wants to embrace her rebelliousness. It's a track that hooks you in with such welcomed magnetic pull that you can't help but want and need more and more of it.

There's something about "yakitori" that feels so enticing and so refreshingly freeing, letting you see that maybe you sometimes feel the same she does. It's not a soundscape that aims to judge anyone, instead is an anthem that accepts that maybe, just maybe, we are very unique creatures that don't like to be closed in one box. So listen closely and fall prey to the sweet magic that makes this an absolute must-listen gem. Enjoy!

"Yakitori is objectively bad for you… The men I date, also bad for me. This song is about not being fully invested in relationships / situationships. I tend to find myself in relationships where I’ve got one foot out the door, but there’s something that keeps me in. Whether it’s the need for intimacy, sex or not wanting to be alone. I tend to overlook red flags, but at the same time inviting the drama a little bit as a form of self sabotage. ORRR Maybe I do all of the above just so I can keep writing music. I know I like it a little too much."
