We wrote this around Halloween, when all we were hearing were 80s hits like Thriller and classic movie soundtracks like Ghostbusters on repeat. We wanted to make something with an undeniable 80s groove but also felt like it was from the future. We had a looped video of night traffic in Tokyo playing above the desk while we were writing and recording to try and take some visual cues and to conjure up those influences whilst playing off the 80s feel of the groove and some of those classic synth and guitar sounds.

Tokyo became a metaphor for all the unknown, the excitement and the possibility within our lives as a band and beyond. It’s a dreamlike notion of a place where everything becomes a possibility. It’s escapism from normal life and a feeling of being lost in a new unknown paradise that you never want to leave or a dream that you never want to wake up from”.
