Call My Bluff

Editor's Notes An inviting and instantly relatable soundscape that explores the topic of imposter syndrome.

US-based indie singer/songwriter Isabel Dumaa comes to Wolf in a Suit for the first time with sonic creation that is "Call My Bluff". With this stunning blend of melodies and lyrics, she explores a topic so true and relatable, imposter syndrome. As it does this, the track manages to flow along with ease as it caresses our senses in a way that is inviting and so human and fragile.

Something about "Call My Bluff" just rings true for all, for whether we like it or not, there have been moments in which felt inferior to the rest. This could be have been cause because it was a new city/country, a new job, a new relationship or simply that it's not part of what was your usual. All of these things can be scary and it's ok to accept that fear tends to make itself part of any equation.

"Call My Bluff" not only explores the topic of imposter syndrome in a down-to-earth fashion but also shows a path to understanding it and overcoming it. So listen closely and find a bit of inspiration and motivation within the confines of this stunning must-listen gem. Enjoy!

"I write in cursive 'cause it makes me feel smarter," came to me one day after leaving school. I had left my computer at home and had to hand-write part of an essay, and I did so in cursive. I asked myself why I chose to write in cursive and looking at the writing, I realized it gave me a sense of distinctiveness and individuality, regardless of the words I put down. Even though I didn't feel confident in the essay, the cursive made it feel better.

That idea became the basis for this song. Later that year, I moved to LA and found myself experiencing feelings of inferiority and doubt. Yet, I found myself doing little things or putting up different facades that would make me feel better about myself, or at least appear so. I wanted to write a song that encapsulated that feeling of imposter syndrome and conquering it."
