I Run

From Norway comes the amazing indie singer/songwriter Red Moon and she arrives to our lands with the magic of “I Run”. With this one-of-a-kind musical creation, we are reminded once more that there is something in the waters of the Scandinavian countries, for pop always shines so differently from them. It’s a song that while catchy, fun and easy to get hooked by, manages to grab a hold of our hearts and souls and pull us in.

There’s something about “I Run” that offers our senses a chance to break away from the norm and explore a world unknown yet so enticing. It’s a song that is sure to click with all who listen as it gives life to one of the exciting cinematic and sonic experiences I’ve had in a while. Listen closely and embrace the sweet nectar of the sonic ambrosia that lies within the confines of this must-listen gem. Enjoy!

“The week I wrote this song ('I Run'), I met up with one of my best friends who at that time lived a bit outside of London. I hadn’t expected we’d be able to meet, but we managed to make it happen. My intention for this song was to capture the emotion of how someone close to you can enhance and elevate the different and unique sides of you. I think friendships have been a true mirror and also the ones who inspire me to become more of myself.

This song is an ode and love letter to my amazing friends, family, and soul family who have been my support system over the last three years. As a queer person living away from home, chosen family is so important. I feel very lucky and proud to have created art together with my talented friends. It takes time to find yourself as a person, often through several phases and eras of transformation. For me, as an artist, songwriter, and performer, this has truly shown in the last couple of years.

This writing session was sort of like a blind date, arranged by my manager, as I still had one day open to write with someone during the week I spent in London in November. I was very excited to work with Andrea because I knew she is a great producer and string arranger. In my mind, I thought we were going to write a cinematic, ethereal song together, but to my surprise, we ended up writing this bop with strings and drum 'n' bass undertones.

In the end, the song ('I Run') can be whatever it is for you - it could be about your best friend, someone you’re in love with, or even a mantra to yourself. I’d love for it to connect with others in the way you can dream big with your best friends.”
