"'being broken' wasn’t supposed to be on this EP. I had the whole project completely finished with nothing new planned. Then suddenly, I fell into a dark depression that lasted weeks. Amid that emptiness, and after some heart-to-heart conversations with the people closest to me, I started thinking (once again) about the pressure and pain that inevitably comes into our lives.
Those synaptic threads start in our childhood years and continue to dig in deeply as we age. We all, in one way or another, can recognize our own brokenness, even as we fight back with our own healing. With the highly personal and detailed nature of the rest of the songs on this EP, I consider this one a simple and relatable letter to the listener — and to myself."
