My Personal Favorites from ’23’:

  • “23”: This is an easy pick for anyone that takes a listen of this album, there’s a reason why the song and album share the same name, it’s greatness and a certain amount of charm and honest storytelling.
  • “Good Luck, Good Love”: There’s something about this track that feels slightly reminiscent of the late 90’s, while still connecting with the modern music scene and speaking to us with sounds that hit home, as the song is more of an instrumental masterpiece.
  • “mollie”: Something about this song manages to give us a taste of americana thrown in the mix of this unique indie rock sound that is so special and so undeniably his.

’23’ by Stinkus

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

US-based indie singer/songwriter Stinkus comes to us with an exquisite and wonderfully crafted first album, say hello to the sonic reality of ’23’. With this body of work he gives life to indie rock jams that manage to feel both contemporary and classic from the moment they start, pulling us in and instantly connecting the dots. Each of them has something to offer to all music lovers, speaking with words that are honest and refreshingly human and down to earth.

While the album is definitely a great addition to any indie rock collection, it does offer a bit of other sounds, like folk, pop and americana. ’23’ is a refreshing showcase of what one person can do when they put everything into a project, they make sure that passion is part of all the hard work, and something like this comes out of it. A one-of-a-kind experience that allows itself to be enjoyed alone or if you want to, you can invite others to sit next to you as you let your imagination pull you in.

Listen closely to each track and I am sure you’ll realize how majestic his voice is and how it manages to give us something new in each track. There’s no repetitive dose of sounds, vocals or even lyrics, each song just stands on its own and give music lovers stories that could be theirs as well. It’s just that amazing of an album, and serves as reminder that Stinkus has actually been around the music scene for far longer than this new artistic persona. So get your ticket ready because this ride is about to start. Enjoy!
