Wake Up!

Editor's Notes A refreshingly intoxicating in-your-face soundscape.

From Switzerland comes the always amazing Mary Middlefield and as always she hits the mark, this time she comes to us with "Wake Up!". With this track, she gives us a refreshingly raw and in-your-face showcase of rock that just hits you in an instant. It's a track that works as an inner monologue, one in which we fall down the rabbit hole into the realm of self loathing.

There's something about "Wake Up!" that is sure to click for more than a few listeners, because we have all fallen down that rabbit hole. So, listen closely and let yourself get hit by the raw energy of this intoxicating must-listen gem. Enjoy!

“I wrote “Wake Up!” from a place where empathy shuts down and contempt takes over, including contempt for myself. The language is extreme because the headspace is extreme, not because it’s meant to incite violence or wish harm on anyone. It’s about how self-loathing can rot into something loud, ugly, and confrontational, especially when you project it outward. The song doesn’t celebrate that mindset or offer redemption; it exposes it. It’s the sound of catching yourself at your worst and letting the tape keep rolling.”
