"In the lyrics, I talk directly to my (former) muse, asking her for truce; and state how I deserve so much more than what that relationship gave me - the song encourages the listener to do the same: be the main character, demand what it is you need and don’t settle for less. At the time, I was listening to sad songs, like you do when you get your heart broken, but couldn’t find one that expressed exactly how I felt, so I wrote my own.

It’s not just a breakup song: it’s about my first love, my first heartbreak and how I didn’t know how to deal with all those feelings at the time - so I turned those feelings into a song (or like Henry Miller said, literature - hence the lyric ‘they say the best way to get over a woman is to turn her into literature’)"
