My Personal Favorites from the ‘Mentors’ Album:
- “Rule #37 – Mentors”: Something about it just speaks not only to you, pulling you in from the moment you press play, inviting you to explore this musical reality that feels both surreal and very-much human and palpable.
- “Rule #40 – Brave”: What a wonderful collaboration, it not only allows you to embrace the magic of Fish in a Birdcage, but we are also given a chance to fall prey to the sweet sound and musical talents of Sarah Coponat.
- “Rule #46 – Poet”: Truly beautiful and inspiring blend of melodies and lyrics that just knows the perfect way to put a smile in your face as it comes alive and becomes one with the airwaves that surround us all.
‘Mentors’ by Fish in a Birdcage
From Canada comes an artist who sees walls as something to break as his creativity overpowers everything in his way. Say hello to the uber-talented Dusty Townsend with his project, Fish in a Birdcage, and his latest release, the ‘Mentors’ Album. With this album, he gives us a taste of what dwells within his mind, and personally, I was left needing and wanting more.
Each track found in the ‘Mentors’ album is refreshingly unique, and they all manage to just grab a hold of your senses and offer up to your imagination a world to embrace and feel ours from start to end. Plus, I felt there was a certain musical theater-like feel in each song that allowed them to speak to me, not only louder but clearer and hitting deeper in my heart and soul.
While, I do admit that choosing a few songs as my favorites was not only a hard task, but damn-near impossible, yet here I am giving you a taste of my own musical bias. The first one was “Rule #37 Mentors”, secondly I found that “Rule #40 – Brave” was absolutely exquisite and a perfect soundscape to explore, and lastly, I felt that “Rule #46 – Poet” was the cherry on top for me. Remember though, always try to enjoy the entire album and find your own set of favorites, or maybe if your prefer to, just enjoy the entire album, and add it to your personal digital collections, because it’s definitely worth it.
