*Just listen to all of them, I can’t pick one, they are all perfect to me.

“‘Precipice is the collective thoughts surrounding my friend’s suicide. It has been the most devastating thing that has ever happened to me and my friends and so I wanted to write really raw songs that described my utter grief and longing for her to be alive again. As something so unexplainable, this is my attempt to understand her feelings and tell my story.

‘Precipice’ EP by Bertie Newman

Rating: 5 out of 5.

From the UK comes the absolutely fantastic and brilliant indie singer/songwriter Bertie Newman and he comes to us with the ‘Precipice’ EP. With this body of work he gives music lovers a place to feel a connection, a place that understands the bittersweet nature of life and how at times it can feel like a heavy toll to deal with. It embraces the good and the bad, and allows us to realize how truly fragile we are as he opens up his heart and soul to share something quite powerful.

The ‘Precipice’ EP is a cathartic experience that allows both artist and listener to break away from the rules and find a place to cry, to scream and to heal. It understands how much weight it bears on the ones that stay when someone leaves this world. It does not try to sugarcoat anything or to cover things up with mundane nonsense, instead, it embraces how much that person meant. It’s a love letter to a friend, with hopes that she’ll get to see how valuable and important she was and that the hole she left will always stay.

When the songs have this much raw human emotion, you can’t just pick one or two, you have to experience them all to really grasp the unique beauty of his voice and songwriting. The ‘Precipice’ EP is the perfect addition to any digital collection solely for the quality of the work put forth, but when you see how human, how palpable and how powerful all the songs are, you’ve found gold. So, listen closely and explore this realm he has crafted with such care, passion and hope that it will reach a special someone now gone but never forgotten. Enjoy!
