“When tragedy strikes or love hits you hard, many emotions can surge. Sometimes you’re unsure whether to allow yourself to feel intensely and express it or to tone yourself down and bottle up your emotions. The songs on the EP reflect both extremes – one moment, you’re almost burning up, and the next, you’re frozen.”

‘Misemotional’ EP by sixten

Rating: 5 out of 5.

As always, Sweden seems to always have some sort of magic to offer the world, and the ‘Misemotional’ EP by sixten is further proof of this. It’s a communion of 6 tracks, 6 stories, 6 experiences that are so wonderfully personal yet beautifully universal and magnetic. It’s an EP that embraces the ups and downs and all that can be found in between what is known as life. They don’t limit their sound to solely pop, but make sure to add a bit of country into mix, making the EP feel much more alive.

This sibling-duo understood the secret assignment that many fail to achieve in the realm of music, and that is to make it feel alive and truly human. The ‘Misemotional’ EP is filled with feelings and emotions that are so palpable and raw yet they don’t invite us to break away or run, but to listen carefully and find a bit of ourselves looking back as the verses flow with ease, becoming one with the airwaves.

I felt this magic throughout the entire EP but it felt stronger for me in the tales of “Misemotional” and “Atlantic”. The first speaks from the heart and is sure to connect with more than a few listeners as it embraces the fragile reality of our human condition and how at times the past might have a stronger grip than what we thought.

While the second, offers a uniquely haunting and nostalgic tale that grabs a hold of your heart and invites you to reminisce of the aftermath of a breakup and how your heart wonders and question why it needs to hurt. Both songs are majestic in quality in every aspect, from the care placed in the lyrics to the perfect connection found between the instruments and the vocals.

So, come with me and let us listen to each song, for I am sure they all hold something that your senses will click with. Enjoy the sweet caress of the ‘Misemotional’ EP!
