‘How to Break a Heart’ by Desmond Myers
US-based indie singer/songwriter Desmond Myers comes to Wolf in a Suit with pure magic, courtesy of his latest EP, ‘How To Break A Heart’. With this stunning body of work, he manages to give each track it’s own flavor and story to tell, pulling us in with each of them. It’s an EP that hits the mark from the moment it starts, giving your senses a much needed dose of escapism and understanding of how fragile and how beautiful life can be.
There’s no way anyone can deny that this is an EP to get excited about, it has it all in my book, and deserves to not only be heard, but shared with everyone, because we all deserve a taste of this sonic ambrosia. I appreciate the contemporary meets classic nature of the sounds and how much care has been placed in the lyrics, allowing each song to really give us cinematic and quite exciting experiences. It’s a great showcase of what Desmond has to offer as a singer, as a songwriter and as an artist.
As always, among these amazing songs, there were 2 that stood out a bit more than the rest to me, but please know, all these songs are hits on their own. The first track, is the one that gives the EP it’s name, “How To Break A Heart”, while the second is home to a one-of-a-kind-experience, “Sounding The Alarm”.
The first reminds us all that anything worth a damn comes with the possibility of pain and sadness, but the reward is sure to be more glorious if earned. It knows that our hearts are fragile and sometimes weakness can take over, but should we let it really hold us back and limit the experience that is life, love and all that lies in between.
While the second plays around with various musical ingredients to give life to a special track that embraces your senses with a refreshingly human and mesmerizing tale from start to end. It’s length might seem strange in music nowadays, but frankly, each second is used quite perfectly, keeping us hooked from start to end.
Make sure to get your senses ready because you are in for a special ride with the ‘How To Break A Heart’ EP. It’s a hit and I am sure you’ll think the same after you are done with this fantastic musical creation (repeat listens are bound to happen). Enjoy!
