‘Bisou’ by Ballsy
From Canada comes the absolutely amazing indie artist Ballsy and she arrives to us with honest and down to earth EP that is ‘Bisou’. With this EP she opens up her heart and soul to give us a chance to explore tales that are so palpable, so human and so wonderfully relatable from start to end. Each song understands it’s own magic and manages to not only get you hooked, but also invested in what these verses have to say to your senses.
There’s a mix of pop/rock and modern/classic that makes the ‘Bisou’ EP a must for any music lover. It just knows how to make each of the songs speak to us all and make us feel as if these experiences could easily be ours. It’s a welcomed ride to the destination unknown, a set of worlds that our imagination will surely appreciate and a chance to sing, dance and feel it all.
The ‘Bisou’ EP is made up of 6 songs, 6 stories that speak to us and make us feel as they were as much ours as they are hers. Out of these 6, there were 2 that spoke a little louder to me than the rest and they are: “Person” and ‘Eulogy”.
The first is soft, inviting, a proper rock ballad that does not aim to be romantic and lovey dovey, but quite honest and in your face. It embraces the aftermath of taking off the rose-colored glasses that we have on at times in relationships, and now we see that the other side is just a human being, filled with good and bad things that are no longer your concern. It’s a wonderful way of saying goodbye and that you are no longer hypnotized by whatever they think they have.
On the other hand, “Eulogy” is a bit more rebellious from the get go and it just speaks to you in a way that invites you to be the main character of this story. It invites you to ask what you need and want, and to say all that you want to say, because your voice is your power and you know it. It’s a uniquely empowering soundscape that just hits the spot just right, giving you a anthem to make yours.
So listen closely and just let go of all you think you know because the ‘Bisou’ EP is here and it has all you really need and want. Embrace the honest charm and palpable beauty of these verses and enjoy the adventure that awaits within this fantastic body of work.
