“The Kindest Love” by Alae
Alex Farrell-Davey and Allister Meffan are a soulful folk/pop duo from New Zealand that is setting their mark on the world as Alae. This track, “The Kindest Love”, has something about it that simply grabs you from the moment it begins. Maybe it’s the honesty, maybe we relate to it, maybe it’s the fact that it does not sugarcoat a thing, it is simply real and made up of the flaws that are so true to us human beings. Listen to that piano as it sets the mood and with that haunting voice they make a soundscape so heartfelt and pure. We have all screwed up one way or another, but are you willing to accept that and take the loss with your head high? Or are you just too full of yourself? If you are the second you might yourself losing something precious, that kindhearted soulmate that you’ll push away.
Think about, truly listen to the sad tone of the track for it is telling you a story that can teach you something so amazing. I applaud the guys for opening their hearts, showcasing the flaws and embracing that music is not just love or heartbreak but accepting the consequences. Simply one of the best tracks I’ve heard not only from New Zealand but from the world.
